World Cup Quiz @ The Isle of Skye

Last year’s pub quiz was a raging success. This year… we will go one better. 7.30pm KO next Wednesday (25th) at the Isle of Skye Pub, 488 Driggs Ave @ N 9th St. One block from Bedford Avenue L train in the heart of hipster Williamsburg.

Scotland v USA: Friday 15th November

Game on at 3.05pm at the usual venue, the Football Factory at Legends, W 33rd b/w 5th and Broadway.

Also the The Highlander NYC bar is screening the game in conjunction with the American-Scottish foundation, details here. W 39th b/w 5th + 6th, and also a 3.05pm kickoff.

Let’s hope Scotland play like this:

While the USA show up like this:

Macedonia v Scotland: Tuesday 10th @ 2.30pm

Live at the Football Factory @ Legends, W 33rd b/w 5th and Broadway.

Belgium v Scotland – Friday 6 September

3pm KO @ Legends, W 33rd b/w 5th & Broadway. See you there!

England v Scotland – Wednesday 14th @ 3pm

Wednesday’s game will be shown live in the Football Factory at Legends, W 33rd b/w 5th and Broadway. 3pm KO.

Brooklyneers, it’ll also be on at your borough’s two Scottish pubs: Isle of Skye (Williamsburg, Driggs b/w N 9th and N 10th) and the recently-opened Duke of Montrose (Park Slope, 5th Avenue & Bergen St). I’m told Brooklyn is in the same time zone as Manhattan so that would also make it a 3pm KO.

Who remembers this? I know I do.

Croatia v Scotland live at Legends

Croatia v Scotland will be live in the Football Factory at Legends, with a 2.15pm kickoff this Friday (7th). Sorry I forgot to post this earlier!

Legends is on W 33rd between 5th and Broadway. Close to almost every subway, Penn Station, and the PATH. No excuses!

ScotBarNY Cup

The Time: 8pm, Friday 5 April

The Place: Bushwick Inlet Park, N 10th St & Kent Avenue, Williamsburg (many thanks to the New York Coed Soccer League for donating the field time)

The Match: West of Scotland v East of Scotland

The Prize: The 2013 ScotBarNY Cup.

Salt-n-Vinegar v Salt-n-Sauce. Weegies v Watsonians. Airdrieonians v Aberdonians. Honest Men v Fifers.

Yes, battle lines have been drawn for the 2013 ScotBarNY Cup. It’ll be that eternal Scottish battle, West v East, played out on the hallowed soccer fields of Williamsburg.

Last year's victors

Last year’s victors… Scotland demolished the “Rest of World” 8 to 0. Just like the good old days.

And this year there’s more than pride at stake.

This match is the first trial for potential Scottish superstars to strut their stuff and get in the NYC Scotland squad for the Cosmos Copa, New York’s own soccer World Cup – organized by the famous New York Cosmos of Pele, Beckenbauer, and Chinaglia fame.

The NYC Piper, Jerry Dixon, will pipe the teams on to the field and provide some half-time tunes. (Many thanks to ScotBarNY for sponsoring the piper and providing the trophy.)

Turn up for a cracking match of football, and of course drinks afterward in a nearby hostelry.

If you’re interested in playing (or trying out for the Copa squad) contact

Scotland v Estonia, Live on Wednesday

The first chapter in Wee Gordon Strachan’s ginger march to Brazil/France/Russia/13 cities in Europe/Qatar/etc will be shown live in the Football Factory, downstairs at Legends Bar, West 33rd Street between 5th and Broadway.

2.45pm kickoff, Wednesday 6th February.

Here’s something you’ve probably not seen: Strachan talking last year about youth coaching and the importance of teaching values.

Wales and Belgium Games

Both games will be shown live at Legends Bar, West 33rd Street between 5th and Broadway.

vs Wales @ 2.45pm on Friday 12 October

vs Belgium @ 2.45pm on Tuesday 16 October

To get you in the mood, enjoy the latest tune from the Tartan Specials, formed in New York and now “The World’s Leading Scottish Football-Themed Rock and Roll Band” (their words not mine!).
